PIP was created by Chris Howard
I am a 65 year old male, disabled with multiple sclerosis. I get ESA & DlLA, my partner thinks I should apply for PIP, is she correct ? If I did and got PIP, would it be in addition to my ESA and DLA or would it replace them ? and would I be better off , I am far more disabled now than when I was awarded DLA.
Any help or advise very welcome, as the more I read about the benefit system, the more confused I become !

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
Every DLA claimant who was under the age of 65 in April 2013 will be 'invited' to claim PIP at some stage. Claimants are being selected randomly, so we cannot give you any indication of when the invitation might arrive.
PIP was brought in with the express intention of reducing the welfare bill so some people currently in receipt of DLA will lose out on PIP. However, others will find that the changed criteria work in their favour.
It would be worth you having a look at our PIP guide, do the PIP self- assessment (score yourself harshly, as DWP will) to try and get an idea whether you would be better off under PIP.
PIP help for claimants
Once the PIP claim has been started it will not be possible to remain on DLA long-term, whatever the PIP result.
PIP is replacing DLA, ESA can still be paid until you reach State Retirement Pension age.
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about DLA/PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it makes our 'job' very much easier - and I hope you will find it useful too
