Atos Pip home visit was created by trishquirke@btinternet.com
I have an Atos medical at home, coming up on Thursday 1st Dec. I have been claiming DLA lowest rate mobility and want to try for care component and lower mobility rate of Pip. I have severe agrophobia, panic attacks, anxiety and depression and my friend who was going to sit in on the assessment ,has started a temp job so won't be avail. My only option at present is a support worker who has just started helping me again. Do I have to have someone with me and are they not allowed to speak? Advice is urgently
needed as the support workers view of me is not right and she's trying to say I don't suffer from panic attacks. I feel she may be more of a hindrance than a help .

You don't have to have someone with you but most members would probably recommend your doing so if possible and if only for moral support.

The companion does not have to speak, in fact the assessor will discourage them doing so, although they may be allowed to add something at the end of the assessment.
