This medical is making him more anxious(understandably) so he's taking them now. I was wondering whether it was better for him to be less anxious or the real him and agitated and irrational?

It's not a problem that you asked the question but it is not appropriate for Moderators to advise on these issues on the forum, I would even be circumspect in allowing posts from members on this subject.
