Support group in April now letter for medical ??

I completed my forms and sent in my medical evidence then got a letter in April confirming my place in support group. Now I gave a letter asking me to attend a health assessment medical, I thought once you were in the support group you didn't have to have a medical? Confused, please help if you can.
Thank you
Linda

Welcome to Benefits and Work
You are quite correct in saying that you should not have to go for a face2face assessment if a decision has been made on your most recent reassessment.
Are you certain that the letter in April was a decision letter regarding your latest reassessment rather than a routine annual letter confirming your status? There seems to be very little difference between these and you would not be the first person to be caught out!
I'm afraid the only way you will find out what is going on in the phone DWP and ask. This will not have any effect on your claim or reassessment.
You might want to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. This will allow you to return and tell us what DWP said, or ask further questions relating to your PIP claim, without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place - and I hope you will find it useful too

I received a letter dated 16 April saying "your benefit is changing to employment and support allowance" only just noticed that!
"You have been placed in the support group etc etc
Then out of the blue last week, a letter asking me to attend a medical,
Something appears to be wrong and I'm not sure what to do ?
I would be very grateful for your thoughts on this, would it be possible to find out what was said when they decided to keep me in the support group and why are they giving me a letter to say I am changing to ESA when I am already on it, I'm totally confused,
Thanks in anticipation

I'm afraid the letters from the DWP are not known for their clarity and it is possible that the letter you received in April was, as Mrs H has suggested, the bi-annual letter about your claim, the only way that you will know what is going on is for you to phone the DWP and ask what is going on.

We appear to have sent you the incorrect letter and it looks like we didn't look at your completed paperwork until the day after it should have been in so we cancelled your claim then restarted it hence the incorrect letter being sent to you so you were put back in the support group but still having to start again, hence the medical !
I said I still don't really understand and he said he didn't either so let's see what the health assessor says.
So, I'll keep you posted,
Thanks

So, the letter was sent in error, your claim is still being assessed and you need a face2face in relation to this, seems to be the long and short of it!
