PIP application 7 months 2 weeks ago #181119

Hi all, sent off my PIP claim 2 weeks ago ,and today i received a" what happens next" letter from Capita.
They have informed me that a health professional will now look at my application and decide whether i will need a f2f or decision made from evidence i have sent with my claim and how to contact us info, they then say it could take up 16 weeks for a decision. Firstly is this the norm to have receive this letter 2nd wll i continue to recieve DLA until the decision ?

Yes this is all standard, your DLA will remain in payment until four weeks after a Decision is made on your PIP claim.

There's a section at the back of the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Good luck for Friday.

Hi
Home assessment is nothing to worry about. However be aware that you are used to managing in your own home. You can decide which room the assesment takes place in, stay in bed if you want. The HCP is not entitled to look around your home. The assessment is primarily observing how you manage to do things. The HCP will be observing every little thing you do, if you open the door, how you walk, how you present your ID, if you pick anything up ie. tv remote. etc. you may refuse any of the physical tests if it would cause you discomfort but you must give your reason for refusal. The HCP need to see you without your coping mechanisms and with out using any aids. You do not need to make any special effort, you do not need to impress the HCP. Just be yourself warts and all.
Best of luck

Thank you both for your responses, i have only just read these as i was in hospital for a minor procedure yesterday.
I find this forum very helpful and reassuring particularly as people like me are going into the "unknown" and with all the horror stories of some. Thanks again.
I will let you know how it goes.
