PIP renewal and MR help was created by Gmills 1
Hi this is my first post but i have looked through the forum and member guides and found them very helpful.

I have recently had an assessment for PIP renewal and the deciision has been to lower me to standard for both daily living and mobility, 10 pts each, previously having 13 for DL and 12 for Mobility.

When i left the assessment i had concerns as i felt rushed (took 40 minutes) and also when i tried to explain anything i was interupted with we'll come back to that, but never did.

I have asked for a copy of the HP report but not recieved it yet. I want to ask for MR but not sure if i should do that now using your template letter or wait for the HP report.

My decision was made on 3rd march. Also i have to go into hospital on wed 22nd march for an opp and hope to be home in three days, so do you think this would give me grounds for more time?

Any advice please and thanks in advance

It is really important that your request for an MR is received by the DWP within one month of the date of the Decision, but you don't have to rush and there should be time for you to receive the assessment report.

Your being in hospital should be accepted as Good Cause for a late request, but if it is not then you lose all right of further appeal, so I would make all efforts to have the request in on time.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi back again

I have recieved my copy of the assessment report and can only say i am completely stunned by the incomplete, inacurate and wholey misleading and supposedly professional report i could have imagined !!!

Huge amount of spelling mistakes, grammer and punctuation dismal.

My spelling etc has never been great but for a professional report i would have thought that a good amount of care would be taken.

But it does back up what i felt as to being rushed and not being able to explain things as i was interupted repetedly.

No mention of my daughter supporting me to and from the assessment room, it said i used walls for support ?

Said assessement started at 11.05, my daughter took a picture of her standing at the waiting room door to collect me at 11.20 ?

Said i walked approx 10 metres to assessement room unaidded ? oh not using walls for support then ?

My son is going down ther to measure the correct distance as it was neerer 3 metres.

And on every descriptor for every DL and Mobility the only informal obsevation was

" She carried a carrier bag in left hand, held tissue during assessment with each hand and used this to wipe bith eyes"

I had the bag hooked on my wrist and it had small empty boxes of the 4 medication tablets i take.

So much of this is utterly wrong i am so shocked.
Sorry about the rant but not sure how to approach the MR letter now..

I would go through your PIP2 with the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to make sure that you have shown that you meet the criteria to score points and to address any issues raised in the report.

Stick to issues that are points related, so matters such as the spelling and grammar and the timings of the assessment will not help you score so pass these over.

Make sure you have made appropriate use of the terms defined under the word "reliably" wherever applicable.

Ok i have calmed down now. Im going to follow your advice and have coppied out your sample letter.
Should i just cover the main descriptors that i need for point and not cover the others that are not right either ?

As most MR goes on to appeal should i send in an SAR to get all my info from DWP now ?
Many thanks

If you include issues that do not lead to points then you are simply diluting the message you are sending for the MR.

If you go on to appeal, then you will receive a copy of all the documents used in the making of the Decision, so you do not need to issue a SAR unless you want them for some other reason.
