Pip acessment loss of payment was created by Christine
After my pip accessment I've lost my enhanced mobility rate and gone to standard rate care.
I have epilepsy, joint problems, anxiety and PTSD.
Normally I don't integrate well at all with people i don't know but on the day of my accessment the man who did it introduced himself made it clear he was a Neurologist Nurse, i immediately felt this guy would understand how i felt, how wrong was i.
He took almost no notice of how my day goes, never bothered to ask my carer how i was after a seizure and the help i need or how I'm like prior to a siezure, now i have to hand the car back, i don't drive i felt totally on my parents for transport to and from appointments and for them to get to me after a siezure.
My level of care can change by the hour, not according to this guy, seems i fit for work.

If you have not been awarded what you expected then you need to look at the next steps and whether you want to pursue them or not.

The first stage to challenging a Decision is for you to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this needs to be done in writing to the DWP, within one month of the Decision, to the office that dealt with your claim, have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Thank you, i think i was disappointed not because i lost the mobility as such, but this has made me feel fraudulent if you know what i mean. I will go through my accessment form with a fine tooth comb and get back to you.
Many thanks.

Could I ask, can the mandatory reconsideration be submitted by my carer or does it have to be done by myself.
Thank you.

There's no problem with them writing the request but you must read and sign it.
