The extra "E" is because the identifier field is four characters and some bright spark mistyped when the system was set up and added an extra "E" and now it's set in stone.

The ESA payment system is piggy backed on to the JSA system, so when an ad hoc or one off payment is made it has an identifier of "JSA".

Thank you Gordon
I did not recieve any odd payments, it was my normal day and normal amount to be paid ? There was nothing unusual apart from the JSA bit. Should I just await next payment and see if it goes back to ESA ? Again I know you say it time and again but this is near to my decision for PIP lol and it just makes you wonder.

Also Gordon, at the very start of my ESA how would the DWP decide if I should be in CB which I am or IR based ? I was first on IB then IC, I had cancer at a young age after that my health plumited and I suffer with all sorts of things now, would it be the very minimal NI stamps I gained before illness or would it be that I lived with my husband ? I cannot remember giving financial info to the DWP at any time, I am probably being very thick here haha.
thank you

It's really not that unusual for the DWP to make a manual payment, even if there are no changes to the claimants benefits.

If you were previously on Incapacity Benefit then this is why you are receiving ESA(CB), as all IB claimants were assumed to have met the Contribution Conditions, whether they did or not.in reality.
