Getting Out was created by OldAndConfused
Hi all

As Gordon predicted I've today received the letter from DWP telling me I've been moved from the Support Group to WRAG.

As a family we are considering all of the options and as part of that I wonder if somebody could answer these questions:

1) What would I need to do to stop the claim altogether? To get myself out of the system completely?

2) If I do this, would it prohibit me from submitting a new claim in future?

Many thanks in advance

All you have to do is write to the DWP to close your claim.

If you make a new claim then you will need to re-meet the Contribution requirements if it is for ESA(CB) and you will be subject to the new rules on the payment of the WRAG component, which you are not at the moment, in other words you will ne paid the WRAG component if you are again placed in that group.

Thank you Gordon, as always :)

After four nights with no sleep I have done just that. It will be interesting to see how long it will take them to action my request.

You have the option of re-activating your claim, if you contact the DWP within 12 weeks of your claim being closed.

Hello again

I've now written twice asking for my claim to be cancelled, and also asking for a copy of the medical assessment report. Unsurprisingly I have heard nothing back, not even an acknowledgement.

How long would things like this 'usually' take? Ironically, I was claiming for agoraphobia and social anxiety which means I can't cope with phone calls or I would ring them direct.

I am due to be 'paid' again on Tuesday; it will be interesting to see what happens. The money will be moved to a different account so that when they ask for it all back it'll be right there waiting.

It can easily take a letter 10 days just to get to the right DWP department so I think you will have to be patient as it could be a couple of weeks before your request is actioned.
