DLA and ESA was created by Singh
Hi,

I was diagnosed with a genetic late onset disease of the cerebellum called SCA2/ Ataxia,
and it is a progressive disease causing death. I was awarded mobility DLA and worked until
2016 when my work ended, the condition I have has affected my ability to work & function and I thinking of applying for ESA, the question I have will apply for ESA effect my DLA mobility benefit,
like moving to PIP.

Kind Regards

Amarjit Dohil

DLA claimants are being chosen at random to claim PIP unless they have a fixed term award, so I would not expect your claiming ESA to have any effect of your current DLA award.

Have a look at our ESA Claim guides for the criteria against which you will be assessed.

It's not a choice, if you meet the Contribution Conditions for ESA(CB), which you appear to do, then you will be paid it, the choice is whether you want to be also assessed for Income Related ESA.

Hello,

I need further clarification, I own a second property which I rent, can I still claim
ESA-Contribution ? If I can what happens to my benefit when I am put into the work or support group?

I am in the process of selling the rental property/on sale now, first and then I will sell my home and then buy a house to live in and hopefully, have one home with a small mortgage, how will affect my benefit ? I need urgent advice.

Kind regards

Amarjit

I'm sorry but we cannot give detailed financial advice on the forum, you need to get face to face advice from a trained advisor, do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.

I can tell you that if you are only receiving Contribution Based ESA then your savings and assets will not affect your ESA.
