FACE TO FACE FOR ESA REASSESSMENT AT 63+

I am a 63+ & was placed in the ESA Support Group since March 2012 & previously on I.S. I was required to submit this March an ESA 50 & I enclosed a medical report from my specialist detailing my multiple chronic diseases, my mental condition & he stated my inability to work. I enclosed a letter from my GP with similar evidence. I have been asked to attend a face to face in two weeks time. I am terrified of some sort of entrapment at the face to face. I only have two years left until I receive my state pension. How was it decided that I should have a face to face? Can anyone in a similar circumstance share their experience & what I should expect. Thanks.

The vast majority of ESA claimants are required to have a face to face, so it's really not abnormal that you have as well. The decision that a face to face is required is primarily based on the information included in and with your ESA50 and whether they can make a recommendation to the DWP based on what they have.

Gonzalo, I am 64 will be 65 in Feb 2018 and have been on Invalidity Benefit, Incapacity Benefit now ESA contributions only. ESA since 2012. I am also 70% War Pensions disabled and in receipt of War Pensions Unemployability Supplement. I to had a letter from them along with an ESA50 in March, filled it in and had my F2F yesterday. We were about an hour answering questions and the physical examination was less than 5 minutes. What a farce. Especially when my ESA stops on my 65th Birthday next February. Mind you saying that it was my first F2F medical since 2006. So can't moan really. Most probably what Gordon says is correct. Take someone with you though.

Hi, I too will be 65 in Dec 2018 & have been in the support group since June 2016 with mental health issues. I was sent an ESA reassessment form back in Feb with no supporting evidence or letters, it's now been 16 weeks & still no word from the DWP. I thought that at nearing retirement age they would have left us alone but obviously this is not the case ....

Thank-you for your response to my post. It did help me with my panic & anxiety. You seem to have a good attitude towards the situation. Good luck & I wish you a positive outcome.

Thank you Gordon. To remain in the support group would the decision by the assessor be purely points based? Would I need to have maximum points in several activities or is it based on the total number of points in all activities. Or is it a mystery?
Thanks GONZALO
