appointee and assessment was created by Rox1975
Hi everyone , I have been on this site for nearly two years and its helped me so much with winning my pip appeal . unfortunately i have had to start a new claim now as my award has ran out. and my assessment is on this Monday at my house. I have sent in all the relevant evidence but im worried sick about the assessment , as my last one was so bad . I have suffered a stroke , have fibromyalgia , incontinence , coccyxadina and moderate to server left ventricle hypertrophy. I worried about a couple of things and i wondered can any body give me any advice about them . My mum has power of attorney over my financial affairs due to how much i struggle with budgeting . I sent in the power of attorney documents and pip sent me back a form to fill in making my mum appointee. i have been told by atos that she has to be at my assessment or my claim will be ended . im really worried about how many question they will be asking my mum . she is worried also and is scared in saying the wrong thing.does anybody know what questions will be asked to my mum
also on my last assessment i was made to climb the stairs in my house, with fibromyalgia and the pain i get with it along with my moderate to server left ventricle hypertrophy i struggle to climb the stairs and left fighting for breath after on climbing three or four . Can they make me climb stairs and further more are they allowed to .? any help and advice with these questions will be very much appreciated

It's standard practice where a claimant has an appointee for the Assessment Provider to require them to be present at the assessment, so your mother shouldn't worry unduly about this, there is a section at the back of the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions your/she are likely to be asked.

If you are asked to do anything that would cause you severe discomfort or worse then you can refuse, just make sure that you explain to the assessor why you are doing so. Your example of the problems you have with stairs is an excellent example of how to explain your issues to the assessor.

Best of luck for Monday.

Thank you Gordon for replying the other day . I had my assessment this Monday but it was worse than my first . It lasted 30 minutes , with around 10 minutes of the health professional writing on here little laptop . she rolled her eyes at me number of times because i couldn't get my words out . it was not a full assessment due to the fact of how many questions she missed out, and how many health conditions i have . There was no questions on public transport or following directions , how far i can walk before feeling pain wasn't mention's . no questions on variability , typical day or good and bad days . in fact i wasn't asked in the slightest how much help i get because of my difficulties . she seem more interested in asking me the same question over and over , about the last time i collapsed due to heart condition . which i answered honestly and it was the same answer every time. i had my mother there as appointee who thank god was only asked a couple of questions , and my key worker writing the assessment in short hand to change a later date for me to read through . All three of us was shocked at how quick she went through the assessment. When she had finished she packed up her little laptop and folding chair and was half way through my door when she asked ( did i have anything else to add ) . i am dreading the decision and not sure i can through the fight of a appeal and tribunal again.

You should be able to request a copy of the report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim. PIP Decisions are currently taking 2-4 weeks at the moment.

As to the assessment, we've seen the worst assessment possible still result in the highest of awards so don't give up hope.
