Hi folks,
Regarding DLA. I accept that we should carefully concider the implications of whether it would be a good thing to report a change, but does anyone know what I should expect to happen after reporting (in writing) a deterioration in my condition to the DWP (whilst at the same time opting out of telephone communication for health reasons)? For example; how long before they should respond or send me the paperwork to apply for PIP? What are my rights? What would constitute as an unreasonable delay in dealing with my claim, consequently delaying any subsequent increase in the amount of benefit? Some info on this would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Bengal

I would expect you to receive an invitation to claim PIP, providing your were under the age of 65 on 8 April 2013, otherwise it will be a reassessment for DLA.

There is no set timescale for the DWP to respond within, but I would chase after a month if you have not heard anything.

Thanks Gordon; they seem to want it all their way don't they. I have chased them once (after 3 weeks, about a week ago) and I will chase them up again in a couple of weeks, if I don't get asked to apply for PIP in the mean time.
I always get my communications to the DWP signed for, to prove they received it. I can't see why they don't respond almost immediately, or maybe I can.
Many thanks,
Bengal

Hi Gordon,
After receiving a letter from DWP pip9 post handling site b, stating that they have all the information they need to decide on my pip application, do you know how long I will have to wait before I receive the decision?
Many thanks.

Best guess 2-4 weeks.

Hi Gordon,
Thank you for your reply. My f2f was three weeks ago. Does this make any difference to your estimate of when I will get a decision? I think I recently read on here the same estimate given to someone who had just had f2f. The waiting is terrible.
Thanks Gordon.
