LONG DELAY FOR PIP ASSESSMENT - BUT HOW LONG??

Good morning everyone.
I am asking this question on behalf of my friend. On 4th April, she filled in her PIP Assessment form and, after photocopying it and all her (considerable) evidence, sent it off 1st Class signed-for post.
As I write, she STILL hasn't received a date for assessment. She has phoned them many times and has now been told "It's no good you phoning every week. We have received your form but there is a queue and you're in it." They couldn't - or wouldn't - give her any clue at all as to when she might hear from them. She has told them that she is in the Support Group, but lives alone and cannot pay her bills. Their attitude on the phone was that it wasn't their problem.

My question is, can anyone give us any idea of how long it is taking PIP assessment dates to come through in the South of England, please?

Any advice would be welcome: my friend is really struggling and is very depressed....

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid there are delays in the PIP assessment process. Who is ringing, the DWP or the Assessment Provider for her postcode? If the former then they won't be able to help as they have no access to the information. The AP may be able to give her an idea, they deal with claims on a first in and first out basis.

If they are suffering financial hardship due to the delay then they could try contacting their MP for assistance.

My friend is ringing the DWP as she doesn't have any idea of who her AP is because she hasn't been contacted. I can try looking through her paperwork again (with her) and see if she has the correct number for the AP. No-one from the DWP or the AP has tried to contact my friend, other than the standard "We have received your documents" text.

Thanks for the tip about contacting the MP, I will suggest it to her. However, our MP is both new to Parliament (possibly a plus) and a "True Blue" (possibly a minus) so whether my friend would get any help from him is unclear. But - nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Many thanks to you Gordon.

The following postcode map will allow her to identify the Assessment Provider and they can be contacted on the following;
