DLA to PIP Medical report and Mand Considerations

Been trying to prepare for the worst as my wife's medical looms and reading guides on next steps if award not acceptable.
How soon can you get a copy of your med report after the appointment?
If it is available at time of decision Is it advisable to challenge appropriate points on this report for the mandatory consideration (using the 50 point guide) or wait until the probable tribunal appeal stage to do that .
thank u

Hi Nobby,

The assessment report is usually available a few days after the appointment, contact DWP to request it.

It is certainly worth using the report to argue your case at MR, if necessary. After all, the aim is to get the correct award as soon as possible.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your wife's PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Just rec'd med report after 3 weeks....checking points 9 care and 12 mob ...daily living much underscored , esp on mental health ...hp noted our info in report then contradicted it in decisions on budgeting 0 and social 0 etc so we have a good case for getting 3 + to pass the 12 for high rate.awaiting DWP letter which will no doubt reflect this so preparing for man's appeal.
Query is do we get whatever they award while appeal is ongoing or stay on DLA or get nothing? Thank u

If a PIP award is made then you will continue to receive payment of this while you challenge the Decision.

Doing some mand appeal prep based on med report findings as we r pretty sure the dwp will not differ in their decision of 9pts homecare and 12 mob.
there is much to dispute with hp report....from errors in history to stating there is 'no cognitive diagnosis' repeatedly on several nil point descriptors on a mental issue that we have a detailed letter from psychologist sent in with pip2 and copy offered to hp at medical to explain illness of Borderline Personality Disorder..hp asked if it was in with pip2,( it was) and declined to look at it. Also not mentioned in list of evidence..just 17 other pieces of FME considered.
Have the appeal guides now and wondering if it is best to concentrate on the 3 descriptors we think we have the best chance of increasing or go for the full monty and list everything at this mand appeal stage.
There are grounds for gaining points on planning a journey but we already have 12 for moving around on physical grounds...so should we leave the mob out of the submission and concentrate on the strongest points for review to gain the extra 3 points needed for home care.
thank u
