For seven years i was having regular sessions with a private telephone qualified counsellor who wrote previousu evidence letters, but due to money I had to quit sessions with her last september and not spoke to her until today.

Last night I emailed her asking her if I could have an one off session, as I told her I had received the esa50 form. She would write an evidence letter as she still remembers me, but although she is perfectly happy to write a letter, she asked me to ask you this. "Does the fact that i have not engaged with her for a year go against me in any way?"
For instance, such a huge gap since last session with her.

I'm afraid there are too many variables to answer with any certainty.

It is usually more important with mental health issues to have up to date evidence, rightly or wrongly the DWP see these as variable conditions

How confident is your counsellor that they can make a proper evaluation of your conditions in one session? Is it simply a confirmation that are still as you have been or could it be more complicated.

Having a new report that connects to older evidence can help build a more significant body of evidence.

Hi Gordon

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, and sorry for all the messages I am sending lately.
I've just spoken to my counsellor, who is happy to do a session with me, but says I have to decide over the weekend if its going to help or hinder.
My only reservation is that the DWP/Maximmus might think, "Aww she's only got back in touch with her old counsellor because we sent her a form"
My Counsellor says that from the email I sent her and from what I have said on the phone, it is clear that I have deteriorated greatly.
It's not that I am still as I was when getting counselling, it is that I have deteriorated a lot.
I got addicted to illicit valium due to stress last year, but because I am diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and C-PTSD, the psychiatrist agreed, with the help of a tranquiliser charity, to give me an NHS prescription, to enable me to taper off at my own rate, rather than merely sending me to a drugs agency, as would normally happen with non mentally ill people.
Although my counsellor said to think it over at the weekend, i don't feel I can think straight at the moment. This ESA50 has come at a really bad time.

Bottom line is, "Will DWP or Maximus think I've just got hold of my old counsellor because I received the form? or, like my counsellor says, some ex clients call her as they are feeling low, and also, you raise a good point "Having a new report that connects to older evidence can help build a more significant body of evidence."
What to say in the session. I told her that although I am not religious, for about a year now, if I did not have a belief in reincarnation that suicide may make me be reborn into a worse life, I would have killed myself now, but I cannot debunk my own strong belief in being reborn into a worse life for killing myself, that is the only reason I am alive.

You are not making it easy for us to support you, I've answered question in three four different topics for you today!

I can't speak for what the DWP will believe, it's perfectly possible that they won't even notice that you have "restarted" your counselling, even if they do then they may not read anything in to it. I would be surprised if they take the view that you have only done it for a letter of support.

Sorry, Gordon, my anxiety levels have shot up even higher than the astronomical level they were before I got the form, as I was not expecting it, I put it out my mind, and was suprised when it came.
Thank you for what you say in the second and third paragraph of your post.
That actually helps me a lot.
I will spend the weekend preparing what to say to my counsellor.
I just get baffled by all these questions, cos I feel I have to be very careful what words I choose, and as i am not thinking straight to start with, and have no confidence in my own judgement, I come on here, I've been spending the evening goung slowly through your mental health workboook.
One physical thing applies to me, I can't empty my bladder properly. I thought it was gynaecological, but gynae checks at hospital revealed no problems, so I neglected it but am off to the doctor on Tuesday, and will raise it, because I am fed up of it taking me three or four visits to empty my bladder.
