I am thinking of going on holiday abroad for 27 days in October this year - for medical treatment. Do I have to inform DWP? And does weekends count towards holiday? If I do have to inform DWP what do I say? Your help would be appreciated.
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it? I am not aware of any specific requirement for a claimant to notify the DWP if they go abroad but it may be to your advantage If you do so, for example; a new ESA50 could be issued and require to be returned while you are still away.
You can leave the country for 28 days without your ESA being affected, this is calendar days, so includes weekends.
If you decide to contact the DWP then write to the office dealing with your claim with the dates that you are away and then again as soon as your return with the date that you re-enter the country.
