Scope of appeal submission

Scope of appeal submission was created by Seebaw
I am preparing my papers for an appeal against a decision not to award me PIP - despite being on the equivalent DLA since 2005.

I have been up all night trying to get the paperwork ready as it has to be in by next Thursday, with a bank holiday looming too.

My question is - how specific do I have to be in giving my reasons for appeal. At the very basic level my reasons for appeal are:
1) The assesment that the decision maker relied on does not take into account the pain I experience daily
2) The assesment that the decision maker relied on did not properly represent how my mental health issues affect me daily
3) The assesor misunderstood my medication situation and misrepresented what I outlined about it in her report

Is this enough? How detailed do I have to get?

I have become quite ill trying to get this done - does anyone have thoughts on how far in depth I need to go to in the "reasons for appeal" question?

Many Thanks

You don't have to go into detail, the only thing I would add is perhaps the scores you think you should have had for the PIP activities, it will help if you set an expectation of the award you are looking for.

There is a completed SSCS1 in the Submissions guide in the PIP section

Thanks Gordon,

I am not in a position to work out what scores I think I should have got for each item - I now intend to put "I think I should of received Standard Rate Mobility and standard rate Daily Living"

I have also ammended my reasons to include "The decision does not take into account the pain I experience completing tasks such as walking, the time it takes me to complete them, the restrictions on how often I can perform a task and the standard to which I can complete them"

I am working to the deadline - is it OK for me to get this form sent off and then spend more time building my case whilst waiting for a date?

I don't think there is any written evidence I can supply - most of it is going to be down to me answering questions from the panel. I don't know how to prove things at home with medical reports.

I just want to get this printed off and in the post!

I've spent 2 days solid on it with little sleep already :-(

The important thing is to make the request for an appeal within the one month normally allowed.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.
