I am really worried.. I rang to get on JSA today while I write up my info to present the Mandatory Reconsideration (letter of 0 points arrived on friday 15 september but dated 13 september and ESA stopped on 13 September.) They gave me an appointment on Wednesday 27 September but I already have my diabetes Eye Screening appointment same time they told me on phone I have to attend this first interview so now have to cancel my eye screening appointment and reschedule (More stress).. I would like to hear from others that applied for JSA and how their interview went? I dont know what to expect? I dont know should I take anythign with me? if so what? My main issue is Agraphobia that I have panic and cant use busses so will have to pay for a taxi to take me there and home and if they expect me to sign on every week I cant afford to take taxis all the time.. how can any employer give me a job as I will need them to pay for my taxi back and forth???

Plus if I tell them all my health issues then what if they reject my JSA claim?? I have no money coming in except for £88 low rate mobility DLA. I cant live on that as I have mortgage to pay which they stopped interest payments too and ofcourse all the usual bills:(

My brain is like mush right now been extremely stressed since i received the letter and also was admitted to hosiptal through A&E with chest pains thinking I was having aheart attack but result after tests came back it was all stress related and anxiety and musculaskeletal pain..

I go to my GP tomorrow im not too sure what I need from her to put forward to my MR either:( I cant seem to focus :( and take anything in and remember.. GOD I HATE ALL THIS :(

Dealing with the interview first. Your new JC+ advisor will know virtually nothing about you as they only have limited access to the information in your file, so you need to explain your limitations to them when you see them. Be aware, whilst they can tailor your Claimant Commitment to take account of your problems there are limits to this and you can be too ill to receive JSA, so be careful not to present too dark a picture of what you can do.

As previously advised this is all about getting your claim accepted and into payment, once this has happened then you can present a new Fit Note and be excused from any activity for up to 13 weeks.

As to your MR, there's an example request in the Submission guide in the PIP section, adapt it for your own use by going through your PIP2 and explaining why you meet the criteria for the Descriptors that you expected to score against. Remember that these have to be done reliably and on the majority of days so if this is not the case then you need to explain why. If you believe that yo have already done this on your PIP2 then refer to the sections where you have done this.

If JC deems me too ill to receive JSA .. would that not be a benefit to me .. that would prove i am not fit for work and the ESA reconsideration should take account of that right?

I'm afraid it is possible to be deemed 'too ill' to claim JSA but still not meet the specific descriptors to be awarded ESA :(

I'm afraid not, everyone assumes that the benefit system is contiguous, as one benefit ends another takes over, but the reality is that there are huge holes in entitlement and it is perfectly possible to be too ill for JSA and not ill enough for ESA.

ESA has specific criteria that have to be met and being unfit for work, bizarrely, is not one of them.
