Should I appeal my DLA to PIP award? was created by Patrick
I moved from DLA to PIP and in the process lost £25 per week, going on standard rate care on PIP having been on mid rate care and low rate mobility (I think) on DLA. I am on it for mental health (schizoaffective disorder).

I got 11 points so was just one point short. I did a mandatory reconsideration and as expected it was declined, I received confirmation of this back in April, so I have just done nothing about it for a long time. Also, my condition is stable now and I don;t see any psychiatrist or CPN, though I still receive meds. However, I recorded the assessment which was with a psychiatric nurse, and although she was friendly enough and didn't mark me down a lot, in some areas the points she awarded didn't correspond with what I'd told her.

Am I far too late to do anything about it now? I didn't want to go through the whole process again, especially as there may be a risk you can lose money however small. I got the SSCS1 form and was going to make an appointment with a welfare rights officer at the council, but never got that far.

You can request an appeal up to 13 months after the Decision was made but will now have to provide Good Cause as to why the request is late, if you have had problems with your health since the MR was done then this should be sufficient reason.
