DWP pip awards was created by MrFibro
Hi to all,

Ij ust read this on news page........

The DWP believes that an extra 10,000 claimants will benefit by £70 - £90 a month as a result of the change.
Penny Mordaunt, former minister for disabled people, told the Commons earlier this month:
“In the case of existing claimants the Department for Work and Pensions will undertake an exercise to go through all existing cases and identify anyone who may be entitled to more. We will then write to those people affected and all payments will be backdated to the date of the change in case law.”
However, few claimants would trust the DWP to identify all those who should receive a higher award, or any award at all if you got nothing. It would definitely be worth getting advice if you believe your case should be looked at again, especially as the DWP seem to be focussing almost exclusively on claimants with epilepsy

It's obvious the DWP will just skip through most of the PIP claimants claims!

So does this mean that a claimant should notify the PIP that they feel their claim need amending, as in regards to getting a higher award. As previously points were not allowed for certain descriptors.

But now it seems over 10,000 claimants will or should be allowed.

Would notifying them saying that you feel your award should fall under this new category, trigger a fresh assessment?

Also how longs it going to take DWP to search through 100,000's of claim files? Before a claimant is notified of changes?

You may never hear from them at all?

So I'm just saying many could miss out, because of DWP deciding not to bother with all claimant claim files !

Hence one may feel the need to notify the DWP themselves.

Is this a game of Russian roulette on the claimants side?

Example .claimant XXXX scored 0 points on cooking,
But the claimant suffers with severe CFS, fibromyalgia, and degenerative illness. This means claimant XXXX is dozed up all day on high meds ie. opiods.

This causes side affects, the claimant is fatigued most of the time 80% all the time day and night.

claimant has accidents, ie drops pans, falls asleep, pans on fire etc.
claimant XXXX needs supervision or cannot cook/ prepare meals.

So my thinking is, a person who scored 0 points on this descriptor for unknown reasons, because the Assessor deemed to score 0 points for preparing & cooking.

Surely the claimant has now good cause to have his her claim re-looked at without a repeat assessment. In other words it doesn't retrigger another wasteful PIP assessment much earlier than the prognosis states.

thxs for reading if it makes sense, coz if it does, and I don't hear from the DWP, I may challenge my award.

I'm sure

MrG

We have no idea how the DWP will be reviewing awards in regard to this UTT Decision and if you read the News Item the guidance they have been issued does it's best to minimise the claimants who's claims will be looked at.
