Personal Independence Payment - Prompting

“Prompting” means reminding, encouraging or explaining by another person.

I have an important concern over prompting. That is, can anyone give some clarification about the PIP DWP guidelines/rules for PIP "prompting," please.

For example, in the PIP descriptor, Preparing Food, Needs prompting to be either cook or prepare a simple meal. 2 points

I have read that the person doing that actual prompting to someone who needs it does NOT need to be present with that person when they prompt them, but can instead give the prompting by either telephone, text or email. Do anyone know if that is true, please?

Thanks

You can argue that the person does not have to be present in order for you to receive the prompting, but it will not be as strong a case as if the person is present. For example; the prompting may need to be repetitive in order to ensure that the activity is started and there may be a concern, forgive me, that you might say that the activity has been started when it has not.
