Just to say thank you to everyone here, your information is soooo useful and helpful, and so is the forum. Don't think I'd have survived the interminably long process without you.

Benefits and Work have the ONLY useful set of tools. My fiance and I went through hell for 5 months waiting for home assessment earlier this year and the assessor didn't turn up! No phone call, nothing. We waited a couple of hours and then called the office who apologised profusely and then had to wait a couple of weeks for the next assessor. This time she turned up and was wonderful, being very careful when she assessed my joints etc. which are incredibly painful from severe osteoarthritis. She was kind and polite. In the past I was given ill-health retirement from my NHS job, that's for life! Yet have to be assessed for PIP. Ridiculous system that makes life hell, since I have also had internal bleeding, suffer from Ehlers-Danloss and now have metastatic breast cancer and depression. Did they really need a home assessment to be repeated some time in the future???
We are soooo grateful for the Benefits and Work guides. They kept us from ending up in a hellish situation.
One thing to mention is, from what I hear and read from other people, is that they do not read the guides properly. For instance you need to emphasise to the assessor/complete the forms, to say that you cannot do something 'repeatedly' without pain. Do not say 'sometimes' because that doesn't mean anything.
