ESA to UC... was created by Misty68
Hi, my local Jobcentre has just fully rolled out Universal Credit. Does that mean claimants on ESA will be forced to transfer over? I am just about to move house and I am worried this will trigger a review. I am in the support group, have been since moving onto ESA (from IS) four years ago. Does that make a difference? I am worried about losing my severe disablement allowance, as my son is my carer but cannot claim CA as he is a full time student.
Thanks.

No you will not need to claim UC unless there are other reasons that you need to, such as a new claim for Housing Benefit.

At some time in the future, probably not in the next two years, there will be a managed transfer of ESA claimants to UC and what is called New ESA, at the moment there are no details of how this will be done.
