Self Employed Accounts Question was created by Rosy
Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right place but wonder if someone can help me. I'm doing my accounts at the moment, they are very late due to ill health. I've just noticed that I borrowed some sums of money during the year, off the top of my head it was something like £600 and £500, spread very far apart, it was for rent because of delays in payments, etc.

How does one list this and also I'm worried I might have done something wrong as it wasn't declared at the time to housing benefit. I didn't think, because of paying it back, surely I'm not benefiting from it and it's allowed.

I'm just worried now that I've done something wrong. An accountant friend said they'd have to be put down as sales and I'd have to pay tax on them. To be honest I don't mind paying the tax, I just want to be sure I'm doing the right thing, and saying those amounts were sales when they were not can't be right can it?

Appreciate any help. Thanks.

I'm sorry but we don't offer tax advice on the forum.
