PIP Home medical assessment was created by Roni
We have just returned home today from a DLA medical assessment. The assessor was very helpful as he could see how ill my daughter was, and he tried to limit the time he spent with her. She got home feeling very ill and exhausted to find a letter from DLA to say that she would be getting a home visit for a medical; assessment for PIP next Friday. Is there a reason why she would have to go through two medicals within an eight day period? Why do they choose to have a home visit when there they have been given overwhelming evidence of my daughters extremely poor health?

Contact the DWP, there should be no reason for a second assessment.

Thank you Gordon. Can I clarify that the medical for DLA today should be enough for PIP? The DLA assessor today indicated that PIP would be a separate medical. We sent PIP form with a lot of evidence to back up the application. It was received on the 6th December by DWP, seems to be very quick response from them. We did not request home visit from ATOS, but my daughter's medical condition is very poor. Why would they opt to have a home visit when it was not requested? RoniJo

Sorry I did not read your post properly, however, I do not understand why they are reassessing the DLA if there is a PIP Claim is progress, the DWP shouldn't be doing this, if the DLA award was up for renewal then it should have been extended by a year to cover the PIP transfer!

I'm afraid the DLA assessment will not substitute for a PIP assessment the criteria used for the two benefits are fundamentally different, so she will need to attend the PIP assessment. A home visit is allocated when the Assessment Provider accepts that the claimant would be unable to attend at their offices.
