Hi,
I get PIP, enhanced living and standard mobility. my husband also gets carers allowance for me. We are due to take a big dip in income because my son is leaving for Uni and I am worried about money. I have been using lots of different calculators online but I can't find the answer to one question.
If I work 16 hours a week from home for minimum wage for example, can my husband still claim carers allowance for me as long as he meets the requirements?
Tax credits have said I can still claim the severe disabled element, hopefully this is true?
We moved areas and are subject to the minimum income floor with regards to council tax so we have to pay a big chunk of that now. My husband is self employed but earns very little because he works around when I need him.

Any income that you bring into the household will have no effect on your husband's CA, however, you need to give careful consideration as to whether your working is consistent with your PIP award!

Whilst there is no specific requirement under PIP for you to contact the DWP if you start work, it may count against you if you do not.
