Claiming DLA without a diagnosis? was created by Workedup
Hi guys,

Is it possible to claim DLA for my son without him actually being assessed or diagnosed?

We have been fighting with his school for the past 3 years and nothing is being done, they approached me when he was in year 6 of primary with concerns of EBD or ADHD, and asked if they could get him assessed, forward 3 years (he is now in year 8 of comp) and after several attempts of meetings with the school the initial assessment still hasnt been done.

I currently have an older child on PIP so know how long and draining the process can be. Im sure that I have read somewhere that you can make a claim but cant seem to find it anywhere.

Many Thanks.

There is no specific requirement for a formal diagnosis but I think you will struggle to receive an award without one.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
