Hi I’m new here so I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place? Can anyone help me, I had to change to PIP from a lifetime award with DLA. I have done everything and received a letter telling me I have been awarded standard for both. I was hoping for enhanced mobility as I struggle but did not want a MR of anything in case I lost everything. It is due to start ion the 14th of this month. Yesterday I received another letter saying we have all the information we need to see if you can claim, I had the same letter before my award, I was confused so phoned DWP. I was told someone flagged the mobility and another case worker is going over the mobility again, I did not ask, and was told someone picked it up due to inconsistency which there was in the right up from the initial case worker but I was prepared to accept as I didn’t feel well enough to do more. I am concerned as to why this has happened and it’s been sent for another case worker to check it, and I’m waiting for a decision not knowing why? Has this happened to anyone else? I’m so confused and worried I’ll lose my points although one person at DWP said they cannot take the points away I’ve been given., what is going on? I’m stressed to the max, if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

There are two possible causes

It is possible that the Claims Manager who dealt with your claim has had problems with others claims, perhaps mis-assessing their problems. as a result a more senior Decision Manager has been tasked with reviewing their Decisions.

It could also be possible that the review has been necessitated by the recent changes to the Mobility definitions and they are looking to see if you would meet the new criteria.

From what you have been told on the phone they are only looking at the Mobility component and you don't need to worry about the Daily Living portion, but they are not restricted from looking at this as well, so I'm afraid you will have to wait and see what happened, you never know it could be good news.

Just a quick update, after I had the second letter and asked why and was told it had gone to a senior case manager, they said they would send my assessors report, I got it yesterday, and my assessors report was absolutely spot on, very good and honest, it was the decision makers report on the award letter that completely contradicts it and has factual lies. I always thought it was the other way around, I am still waiting to hear so I don’t know any more yet.

I know it often seems that way but the majority of assessments are done fairly and the claimant receives the correct award.

Same thing happened to me a month ago. With a failed MR littered with untruths, I'm now going to a tribunal in a few weeks to lay my case against the DM's errors.
