Hi Gordon,
Thanks again, now I know there is no point in chasing a Carers premium.
Kind Regards.

You seem determined not to receive a payment that you are entitled to, if this is the case then you will need to contact the DWP again as I would expect them to put the Premium into payment once they confirm that you are eligible for Carers Allowance.

Hi Gordon,
The saga continues....Phoned ESA this morning and they said that I was entitled to Carers premium 34.95? and to get onto Carers Allowance to ask them to inform ESA that I have an underlying entitlement to it so that they could add the premium. Immediately contacted Carers Allowance and they looked at my file and they said they couldn't contact ESA and said that I was NOT entitled, the reason being that the larger part of my ESA is Contributions based which is more than they could pay me in Carers Allowance.i.e 73.10 living expenses and 36.55 support group (109.65) as you rightly stated earlier the15.90 disability income gaurantee that I recieve is income related. I'm going to have a lay down in a dark room lol ;) Rob.

The Carers Unit are incorrect. You cannot be paid the CA due to your ESA(CB) but this does not mean that you cannot claim it, as the ESA team have identified, you have an underlying entitlement to the CA and this enables payment of the Carers Premium.

Hi Rob 100 and Gordon.
My husband has an " underlying entitlement" to Carer's Allowance but can't claim due to his CB......All that this helps with is pension credits etc.....There is no money attached with the "Underlying Entitlement"....It just means you may have a gateway to other benefits. That's what I found out.
