ESA/Carers Allowance

The saga continues....Phoned ESA this morning and they said that I was entitled to Carers premium 34.95? and to get onto Carers Allowance to ask them to inform ESA that I have an underlying entitlement to it so that they could add the premium. Immediately contacted Carers Allowance and they looked at my file and they said they couldn't contact ESA and said that I was NOT entitled, the reason being that the larger part of my ESA is Contributions based which is more than they could pay me in Carers Allowance.i.e 73.10 living expenses and 36.55 support group (109.65) as you rightly stated earlier the15.90 disability income gaurantee that I recieve is income related. I'm going to have a lay down in a dark room lol Rob.

Hi Rob 100 and Gordon.
My husband has an " underlying entitlement" to Carer's Allowance but can't claim due to his CB......All that this helps with is pension credits etc.....There is no money attached with the "Underlying Entitlement"....It just means you may have a gateway to other benefits. That's what I found out.
