PIP nad ESA problems was created by andyc1967
I have written before about my struggles with my benefits and the DWP. I suffer from depression and anxiety. I am fighting to get my PIP benefit refusal overturned when my DLA benefit was phased out and last week after 5 months waiting have finally been given a date for my tribunal on the 5th March. The stress it has caused me has sent me back to my doctors and I have been referred by a mental health professional to see a psychiatrist at my local hospital on the 24th February for my suicidal thoughts. To make matters worse I have received last week a letter asking me to attend a face to face assessment for my ESA benefit. I completed an esa50 form around six months ago and they said I was still entitled to ESA work capability group benefit. Why so soon am I now being assessed again. It feels cruel what they are doing to me. Why do I have to go to a face to face assessment so soon after completing the ESA form?I have also asked to have my ESA face to face assessment recorded which they have agreed. I have contacted my MP and he is looking into it.
Also I was turned down for PIP in the summer will the new court ruling mean my claim could be reassessed?

I very much doubt that you ESA is being reassessed, there are considerable delays in the ESA assessment process across most of the country so I think it far more likely that this appointment is a follow-up to the form you completed last year.

If your conditions have changed since you completed the ESA50 then I would recommend that you write a letter updating those assessing you of the changes, use the format of the ESA50 to record the information so that it is easy to integrate with the information on the form.

Take the letter to the assessment and ask the assessor to read it before the start the interview and include it in your file before they return it to the DWP, I would also send a copy directly to the DWP office dealing with your claim.
