Hi i am currently receiving ESA support group and enhanced care and mobility PIP.
I am currently in temporary accommodation, bnb, waiting to be housed permanently.
I have been in the bnb for approx 3 weeks and have been told today i must claim UC in order to pay for the bnb.
I am very concearned about this and have great difficulty managing money etc
I understand UC is much less and am worried as i was told UC is not backdateable, so surely if i did claim they would not cover the past 3 weks anyway?
Please advise, should i leave the bnb? or pay with my benefits?
thanks in advance

I'm afraid this is not something that we can advise on, these are decisions that only you can make.

I would put your information into one of the online benefit calculators to get a better appreciation of what you might receive under UC, it won't necessarily be less, but it is paid monthly and there is a waiting period.

The biggest issue will be if you are receiving any Premiums as part of your ESA, especially the Severe Disability Premium, as these are not payable under UC!Gordon
