Where To Start...... was created by Roger
Hi Everyone.I joined this place on recommendation.
After seeing the Citizens Advice, I have been advised that I more than likely qualify for some form of PIP payment. I have a long term physical disability, along with three other non-physical diagnoses. I know very little about applying for PIP and am slightly overwhelmed by the process. I was told by Citizens Advice to ring the PIP helpline and get an application form. I am thinking that is my next step, but what I am looking for is some kind of road map, as to how long the process may be and what it will entail. If anyone has any advice for someone brand new to the process, I would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

Start by having a look at our PIP Claim guide, it covers the PIP process explains the criteria you will need to meet and the assessment process. See

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

We would expect the process to take 13-16 weeks

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi Gordon,
This really is most helpful - Thank you.
I registered my PIP Claim today and will await the arrival of the PIP2 Form.
Due to nerve damage in my neck, I cannot write much more than my signature.
Do you know if I will be able to submit a set of typed answers as addenda to the PIP2 Form?
I have nobody who is able to fill the form in for me, nor will anybody be able to describe my conditions as well as I.
Any help on completing the PIP2 Form if you cannot write and hve no support network would be greatly appreciated? Should I call the DWP Helpline to enquire? Thanks

It is perfectly OK for you to type your answers and attach them as extra pages to the PIP2, just make sure that each page has your full name and NIN at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing. Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X.

Attach the pages to the back of the PIP2 using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.

Gordon,
Thank you once more for a truly invaluable answer.
I had the initial call today with the DWP and expect to receive Form PIP2 within 3 weeks.
I have ADHD, Asperger Syndrome and am also Bipolar, so this kind of process can be taxing for me.
However, I feel I am now on top of things, which is very much down to the support I have found in this Forum.
My thanks again.
Roger
