Lost mobility component, & giving up.. was created by Phil Whelan
My recent PIP assessment has resulted in loss of mobility component, but a small increase in provision for mental health.. I expect to lose my travel Freedom Pass soon as a result of this, & began an appeal but withdrew it before Christmas, due to mental health issues - unable to face tribuneral.. I don't have the will or capacity to fight & can't get to CAB office for help, the queues mean people don't get seen anyway. I'm about £150/month worse off I think, and want to know if the recent news about mental health assessments will help me, without having to go through the stress of appealing, or whatever other hoops they have forced me to jump through before?

I've stopped allegedly life saving meds now, (a few months ago actually, as severe digestive problems resulted from years of these meds) and some physical issues are worse than ever, nerves trapping from the neck down both arms now not just left arm, and am resigned in isolation to whatever comes next. If anyone can help, my NI number is [removed], but I'm giving up hope. I expect I'll be dead inside a year, at this rate. Seeing a consultant tomorrow, Chelsea & Westminster hospital, and see a counsellor most weeks, but have no social support aside from that & alienated from everyone else who was in my life. If there's someone who can assist by telephone, that might be helpful, but mobility is severely restricted by knee & spinal issues, as well as illness affecting energy & sleep. I can't afford taxis like before losing the mobility benefit.. My phone number is [removed].

Thanks for reading & hoping for a phonecall,

Phil

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I've removed your personal information from your post, never post this information in a forum, ours or anybody else's as it could lead to your identity being stolen!

If you were looking for us to contact you directly then I'm afraid this is not a service we offer.

I can't comment on whether the recent changes to the PIP Mobility criteria will effect you or not, there is not enough information in your post to comment, however, I can tell you that the changes are about your ability to follow or navigate a route and the issues that prevent you from doing this.

Although the DWP are looking at all claims to see whether a change in award is justified or not, this is going to take a very long time, so I would not rely on it making a change to your circumstances in the near term.

Have you considered reactivating your appeal, it may be too late but it may still be possible if you contact the Tribunal Service?

If we can help you more then reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
