My friend’s PIP results should be dropping through the door any day now. Whatever about the care component I’m beginning to think about the mobility component and the probable MR

The Governments about turn on the mobility component had not taken place until after we posted the claim form. As my friend’s condition is Bipolar 1 we didn’t concentrate that much on the mobility descriptor but for some the gates may be opened just that little bit wider.

There are two issues that spring to mind and I would appreciate an opinion.

She was granted a paper based assessment after her GP wrote a brief, second, letter saying she should not be assessed (travel) outside of her hometown. So I’m thinking can we reasonably argue that the Doctors letter was an indication that she could not safely do a journey outside of her town (an unfamiliar journey) because of the psychological stress it would cause. I’m not thinking of the actual examination but getting there and back. I’m thinking that in granting a paper based review Capita had accepted she could not travel to an assessment centre and they didn’t offer a home assessment

My second point would be that in her submission she made the case that she could not go to her local church on a Sunday, go into the service, and return home unless there was someone with her. Mostly me! I’m thinking would that satisfy descriptor ‘f’ now that the courts have hit the psychological bar for six? As a committed lifelong RC the attending of mass on a Sunday is a requirement, so been unable to complete the journey does in deed cause psychological destress and cannot be done regularly or safely

Thanks for any insight you can offer

I'm afraid I don't think either argument is compelling, they simply lack detail of the problems she has and neither actually directly addresses the Going Out criteria!

If you are trying to argue that she cannot follow a route then this needs to be explained in detail to score the points.
