New to making PIP claims was created by Michaela Hoyte
Hello, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia back in January. This is the first time I have made a claim for any sort of benefits. I am very overwhelmed by all the information.

I'm not able to get my medical notes from my GP as they will take about 3 weeks to come through and my letter needs to be back by the 16th March. I am going to use my diagnosis letter from my Rheumatologist and put my physio down to contact. AS well as using my welfare notes from my employer.

I will also fill out a diary to use as supporting evidence as well. I'm just worried about the timing of it all, I feel like I dont have enough time to fill it out and gather evidence. Also I currently live in shared accommodation so I don't really have anyone to 'help' me wash or cook etc, shall I write this in my notes also??

If anyone has any more advice on what else I should include I would love to hear it. Anything would be a bonus thank you.
Good luck to everyone making their claims
Michaela

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I would start by having a look at our PIP Claim guide, this explains the PIP process and the criteria that you are being assessed against/

Pay particular attention to the section on variable conditions and if applicable, safety and supervision.

You can easily get a 2 week extension if you phone DWP & ask for more time to fill the form in/collect medical evidence.
