Dla to pip was created by madmanx
Hi the axe has fallen on my mum to apply for pip after having a dla lifetime award.

I have a question, my mum suffers from severe copd/emphysema and as a result has had a stairlift fitted and a bath lift as she cant walk very far and gets out of breath easily, would it be a good idea to take photos of them and include them with the form?

They are both worth including although her ability to use stairs is not being tested. For the bath, don't assume that the lift explains that she cannot get in and out on her own, you must explain this in detail, see the PIP Claim guide for help with doing this.

Hi quick update my mum had to attend a f2f, and she has received her decision, standard care and enhanced mobility which she is happy with as its the same money as on dla, but she isn't very happy at the award length, only 3 years as letter said her needs might change? My mum has severe copd and is not going to get better, only worse so can't understand the short award?, is the award length appealable?

Don't forget that "her needs changing" includes her getting worse.

The award length is part of a PIP award and can be appealed but we have not seen any real success in members challenging just the award length. Be aware that at the MR stage the whole award will be reviewed.

Thanks for reply Gordon, I see your point, maybe the short award is because she may get worse, thanks
