My son is 27 .He has been diagnosed with schizoid personality disorder ,autistic traits ,anxiety and depression. He has never worked ,has not been to the dentist, optician in 10 yrs+. Walks the dog twice a day does not engage with anyone.Does not go out at all alone..misses family occasions ,birthdays Xmas, etc ..If he needs to go to Dr or vet someone needs to go with him ,he goes no where alone. His hair is matted and he is completely ungroomed.I think you get the picture ..basically he is purely existing not living ..I sent off Psychologists reports, mental health professional reports ,specialist nurse reports all saying he is extremely vulnerable and hugely dependent on parents etc etc
He had a f2f assessment at home ( even though we did not request this)Anyway I phoned up yesterday to request the report and if they have any news and was told he has been given standard living,no mobility .Now maybe I'm expecting too much but I did think he would be entitled to mobility and just wondered what people thought ..
I will ask for MR and then I will go to tribunal ..thanks in advance

PIP Mobility can be awarded for a variety of reasons but your post does not suggest that he meets any of the criteria.

So he appears to be able to walk as you talk about him being able to walk the dog.

He can go out for the same reason.

You do not mention any issues with his being able to follow a route.

If you want to challenge the Decision you are going to have to show that he meets the criteria for an award, see our PIP Claim guide for more details.

Thank you ...I thought he would be entitled to enhanced living at least ...but I appreciate I need to see the report. He relies on us wholly ..we only got the dog to make him go out ,before that he hadn't been out for 3yrs!

Just to update you ...I got my sons MR back (very quick) I didn't send in any more evidence but just cross-referenced the criteria with his reports. He originally had 8 points living and 0 points mobility. It came back 10 points and 4 points. The extra 2 points were for engaging with people. which he was not given before and mobility was for support for leaving the house.
I will still go to tribunal as I believe he should be enhanced living. They did not give him any points for cooking a fresh 1-course meal as"he eats fruit and cereal and eats the meal his mother makes him without prompting." He does no cooking whatsoever. They also said," as he has a bank acct and has bought a video game or two " he can manage money even though he does no correspondence whatsoever and ignores letters, has no bills and has told his psychiatrist he doesn't need money.
Will keep you posted.

A couple of points to be aware of.

The comments you include in your post would seem to be more relevant to the Taking Nutrition activity than preparing food and having no bills to pay doesn't really address the Making decisions about money requirement as it suggests this is something that he doesn't do, rather than something that he cannot do.

Money and budgeting is something he doesn't do due to his mental health ,the same reason he hasnt been to visit above as mentioned and never had a job ...he is a 'body' not a being living a life ..purely existing..I may be wrong but I can't believe a man as he is only standard 'care'...
