PIP and Mental Health was created by SmartWater
In December 2017 I was informed that DLA was ending and I needed to apply for PIPs.

I have severe Mental Illnesses. My GP currently visits at home as I am having a very difficult period where I am unable to leave my home and I live alone. I am recently bereaved and made an attempt on my own life In March 2018.

Following what seems like a monumental battle, but with GP support etc the Assessment Service (formerly ATOS) decided to do a paper based assessment. I was notified of this by email 5 weeks ago today. (I had informed them that I do not use the telephone as one of the symptoms of my illness means I am paranoid about being recorded by strangers).

I've had no decision on the outcome.

I have, however, had a letter from ESA (I'm currently in support group receiving Higher Rate Care and Lower Rate Mobility. The letter says it has been sent due to a change in my income.

On the back page everything is the same save for where it would usually state under Income and Benefits:
'Disability Living Allowance '
as not counted when calculating ESA it now states:

'PIP Daily Living Component for you is not counted etc'
'PIP Mobility Component for you is not counted etc'

It still shows my having the Disability Income Guarantee of £16.40

The letter states these amounts are from 22nd May 2018, which is when my next DLA payment will/would have been due. My next usual ESA payment is Monday 14th May.

I'm confused. I've written for an explanation but know that will take eons to arrive.

Does this letter indicate that I have been awarded PIPs? If so, when might I receive the award letter? Is this kind of delay normal?

I'm so tired, each day awaiting the post. It's taking a massive toll on my health.

Yes it does sound as if an award of PIP has been made. The process for producing a Decision Letter often takes longer than the production of an administrative letter such as one detailing your ESA payments although the difference should only be a couple of days.

Is there anybody who can ring the DWP on your behalf?

Thank you Gordon,

No-one at the moment who can call as my son is on holiday and my daughter lives away so I wouldn't be able to authorise them to speak.

I suppose it's keeping on with the waiting game.

I felt an award must have been made otherwise that letter wouldn't have arrived, but it gets very confusing.
