PIP Appeal was created by AlineD
Hello, I recently found out that my PIP mandatory reconsideration was rejected so I am going to submit an appeal. I've been looking over the PIP guides and wonder whether anyone who has been through this process could advise: do you think it's a good idea to submit a written statement with the appeal explaining why I think the decision is incorrect, or wait until the tribunal?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

A submission is a further opportunity for you to explain why you meet the criteria for an award. I would not send it with your request for an appeal, I would recommend that you wait until you have received the DWP's submission so that you can deal with any issues that it raises.

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for your reply. To clarify, once I've sent in the form for the appeal will I receive another opportunity to submit my own statement prior to the tribunal?
Thanks,
Aline

You can provide a submission at any time up to a couple of weeks before the hearing.
