Hi in my decision report where I scored nill points. They wrote, You saidyou were able to read without use of overlays.Able to drive a manual car shows a high level of cognitive, concentration and memory skills.
I have a psychologist report which stated that " You have specific learning difficulty ie dyslexia, you have problems relating to short term memory and visual perception. It is suggested that you have a scotopic sensititivy test which will confirm if you would benefit from coloured overlays". it was confirmed that I needed overlays from opticians and I had some coloured glasses made. I have lost them now. This report was written in 1996, but is it true that dylexia is lifelong so should not matter. Also becasue I said I had lost my coloured glasses they said "you can manage without". But I do have a coloured ruler for reading with, but they did not take that into account.
Is it right that because I drive I have a high level of cognitive, memory and concentration. im confused thanks.

Its not unreasonable to assume you have reasonable cognitive ability if you can drive, even if we are not aware of it we make dozens of decisions as we drive.

When did you lose your glasses?

so everyone that drives, will the dwp say reasonable to assume no cognitive impairment even if a specialist report disputes that.

I said it was a reasonable argument, not that it was a definitive one.

You need to square away how you are capable of driving but still have a cognitive impairment sufficient to effect your ability to complete the PIP activities, because the obvious response is should you be driving if you are not capable.

Dyslexia isn’t a cognitive impairment. Often people with dyslexia have very good coordination and spatial awareness (unless there are other issues that cause difficulties in those areas. People with dyslexia often excell in sports or music etc. I used to work with a surgeon who was dyslexic.

If you have other difficulties that would cause cognitive issues they could be impacted by dyslexia, but on its own dyslexia would not be classes as a cognitive impairment

Thank you so much Flora, I read somewhere that is was a cognitive impairment on the internet but thanks for cleaning that up for me. I also excell at sport, infact I am obsessed to the point of ocd. But diagnosis dyslexia. Main area of weaknesses from report are :
visual sequencing and visual spatial skills highly likley scotopic sensitivity Problems with a visual perception nature, struggle to store information, problems short term memory, struggle to remember both remembering what is said to you and what you have seen. Can this translate to any pip points for depression anxiety PTSD thanks
However assessor from atos says I have good memory skills without any test!.
