ESA looks at two issues, the distance that you can mobilise; you don't mention problems with this and whether you can go out or not; which you do mention. It does not look at whether you can follow a route., so I would not expect your PIP award to have an impact, in fact the report may be supportive for your ESA reassessment.

Hi again Gordon,
I didn't know whether to start a new thread or not so apologies if I got it wrong. I am mainly getting benefit due to my mental health problems and fibromyalgia (awarded 4 points for walking 50>200 yards).

I am currently filling out my new ESA50 form after being in the support group for years.
I went for a F2F re ESA 1 year ago. I recently obtained the last Assessors ESA Report in which I was surprised to see that last years assessor marked me 0 for everything apart from Activity 13 - Inititating Actions where I scored 15 points, putting me back in the Support Group.

I am worried this year due to my PIP Assessors Report which has scored me for prompting on all the following care components: 2 points each for preparing food, washing and bathing, dressing and undressing, mixing with other people and making decisions. Added to that was the spurious 1 point for medication.
I got 4 points each for both parts of the mobility component.
I am really concerned that due to being given only prompting for both Mixing with other people and Planning and following journeys that they will decide I am able to go to the WRAG.
I do disagree with the Mixing with other people and planning and following a journey.
I am concerned that if I do not ask for MR I will be doing myself a disservice in terms of the ESA Assessment.

I stated in the PIP assessment that I did go in to see my GP alone, with my partner waiting outside. I think this is the reason why I only scored 2 for mixing with people, although there are no reasons given on my report, and I did state in the assessment that I am accompanied the vast majority of the time as due to my mental health problems I have difficulty meeting people.

I stated on my form that I do go out alone, but only if I have over-medicated. The vast majority of the time I am always accompanied and I couldn't go to unknown places alone. This was also stated in my assessment. Again, no reasons given in the report.

Can you offer me any advice re possible MR and the overall effects on my ESA claim? I am at my wits end, going round in circles with all this is causing me trouble filling in the ESA form.
Thank you in advance and
Kind regards,
Sj

I would be surprised if your PIP report was used in connection with your ESA reassessment, the criteria is viewed as being too different.

You have a new chance to present your problems remembering that you need to address the ESA criteria this time, however, you do need to think about how you approach this if you only scored for one activity last time and expected to score for others.

Make sure that you use the current ESA Claim guides, there have been updates to the DWP guidance which may effect how you should fill the form in.

Thank you Gordon.

I was too frightened last year to ask for the Assessor's report - if I had done I would have been shocked and probably questioned why. However, the medical was bizarre. I was only in there fifteen minutes, the doctor said he had looked at all my physical ailments and I had given him enough information. He concentrated on my mental health only and the fact that my partner cared for me 24/7. He just commented on my mental state and sent me out the door. My feeling is that he was trying to get through his day as quickly as possible, and just used the 15 point descriptor as a quick way to get me out of there, but I am concerned. I have been suicidal and having just gone through a PIP f2f I don't know if I can cope with another, especially as the ESA Assessments are so far away from my home.
I will use the guides carefully. If I need to ask questions regarding ESA should I start a new thread?

Thanks again,
Sj

If the assessor could clearly see that you met one of the ESA Support Group Descriptors then they are not required to explore your problems with the other activities, this may explain why the report was so sparse and the quick assessment.

It's all right for you to continue posting in this topic if it is easier for you, just make sure that you clearly distinguish ESA questions from PIP ones.

I do have one quick question regarding evidence to send with ESA50
I find it excruciating asking for help, but I really need to send a letter of support from my GP to help with my case. I don't know her that well, and I don't know what to ask for!
Is it just as simple asking for a letter of support? Or is there something else? I realise that I will have to pay for it.
Regards,
Sj
