challenging a mental health report was created by morna
Can someone post a link to this guide, please? I've looked but can't find it.

I scored 11 points, all on dailiy living activities, and because of several inaccuracies in the mental health report, I think it is worthwhile asking for a MR, despite the possibility that I might lose everything. 11 points don't reflect the extent of my disabilities.

When I tried to start a discussion about a newly diagnosed condition (by an NHS Consultant) I've had for over 35 years, the nurse refused, because she said she knew nothing about it.

In my PIP questionnaire, I gave the contact details of the two NHS Consultant Psychiatrists who diagnosed me with this and another condition a few years back, but I don't think DWP have contacted them. . Can I point this out, or do I have to contact these doctors myself? I'm very reluctant, but only because they are such busy people. I think both of them would back me up.

I can understand why people give up on this.

Thanks for any help, or that link!

Our MR and Appeal guides for PIP are in the PIP section, just scroll down.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

If the DWP or Assessment Provider have not contacted your medical contacts already then they are not going to do so now that a Decision has been made, you will need to source any information yourself.

A new diagnosis may not actually help you as it is the limitations that result from a condition that are being assessed and you presumably have suffered from these for some time and documented them on your claim form if relevant to your problems with the PIP activities.

That said, a diagnosis may help you argue that you have those limitations.

funny this 11 points business...I was given 11 points for D L on a MR I had previously had nil.....they gave me 2 for meals, washing, dressing, complex budgetary decisions, mixing with people and the useless 1 point for medicines...I got nothing for toilet stuff despite the fact that I am equally bad at that as all the other descriptors....they gave me 8 for mobility which I felt was not my strongest area.....I wonder if they purposley dont give you the 12 so you get the basic and dont cost as much ? It was weird .....I didnt bother to appeal as I had a ten year award and in my own mind this was better than 5 years at the enhanced for D L and the stress of an appeal would have been too much........these decisions are all subjective anyway
