IR ESA TOP UP TO CONTRIBUTION BASED ESA HELP was created by woodsie
Hi Guys!
Is this right or have they stitched me up for the future?
My ESA CB had a transitional payment addition, my weekly CB/ESA was £151.47 there are no dependant additions in ESA.
My wife has left there was no money added to my IB for her before migration to ESA
For nine weeks i have been trying to get an additional IR ESA TOP UP AS SHOWN IN THIS BENEFIT CALCULATOR RESULT:
Employment and Support Allowance
£180.03 Your entitlement is made up of £28.56 in income related ESA and £151.47 in contribution-based ESA. Contribution-based Employment and Support Allowance is paid for a maximum of twelve months, unless you are in the 'support' group.
However they have given me back pay and stated that my IR ESA is £69.28 a week which now means my CB ESA is reduced to £110 .75 a week.
The total amount i am happy with its the way they have done it that bothers me?
My questions are;
is that correct or should they have just topped up my existing payment by £28.56 a week on top of the original £151.47?(that has trans protection) as in result above?
By doing it ; are they setting me up by reducing my CB ESA to £110.75 so that when universal credit arrives in my area i am only entitled to protection on the £110 amount.
Or am i protected to the £151 level. Confused!
Many thanks for your help with this; i thought i had got a result after nine weeks but not so sure now.
best wishes Matchseller

You Transitional Payment was removed because the Income Related ESA that you are now receiving exceeded it, you are being paid the higher amount. So as an example, if the TP was £30/week and the ESA(IR) was £25/week then the TP would have been paid, if the ESA(IR) was 35/week then it is the ESA(IR) which would be paid.
AS to UC, any Transitional Protection will be based on what you are being paid at that time, so the ESA(CB) plus the ESA(IR).
