Hi folks ,
hope somebody can help with this query.
I am on PIP and ESA, and currently in receipt of sever disability allowance, as i live alone.

As a side issue: I do believe this extra payment will now be protected if/when i move to UC? It's quite a lot, and I only recently fufdf out I was entitled - have missed out on years of payments already- so it would seriously gall me to lose it right away!

But assuming I get to keep it here's another propblem: I have ben issued with a section 21 notice by my landlord , and will have to move out very soon. I an sick of living alone, but I understand that I will lose the severe diabilty pament payment if I share a home with anybody[ who is i] not[/i] in receipt of disability benefits?

That would rule out practically all my friends. In particular, I have one friend who hates the place he is living in and is desperately looking for somewhere else, ideally in my part of the country , as he regrets moving down Soiuth. Sharing with me might represent an ideal solution, supposing that I find somewhere suitable, and supposing we can avoid being mistaken for a couple! (since we are of oppsite sexes, but definitely not a couple_)

His own sutuation re. benefirs os rather complexc He is curtrently on Jobseekers, but has been on disability benefits in the past, thinks that he ought to qualify', and might well re-apply in the near future. But sucess cannot be counted on. of course.

I'm pretty sure he's not even up to caring for me, if that's what the government expect! I just want some company, and want to help a friend out of a hole.

You can be considered as living alone even if you share a property with someone else but it will depend on your living arrangements, for example, you will probably need to both have rent books and to only share areas such as the kitchen and bathroom.

I would recommend that you get face to face from a trained advisor who can outline the requirements in more detail and help you through the process. Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with your postcode, town or county.
