I put my application in a while ago and have heard nothing so far but it can't be far away and my plan was to go to the usual medical centre near me, however things have changed for me a bit now because i have had a stroke and can't feel most of my left side, so i have fallen up and down stairs, my left knee gives way on it's own and walking is hard as i have not got used to walking with a numb foot, so my plan was to wait until i get the medical date letter and ask for a home medical, and that is why i am posting here.
I would like to know what have been your experience of home visits?, Do they go snooping round my home, will they make me try to use the loo, bath/shower, get in and out of bed etc, and how are they in your home in general, respectful etc etc

To get a home assessment you will need the support of your GP to write a letter explaining unambiguously why you cannot attend at the Assessment Providers offices.
Home assessments are not significantly different from those done at the APs offices. They are a guest in your home and have no more right to look around than anybody else, although the vast majority of assessors won't want to anyway.
They may do a minor physical examination, joint movement and grip but they certainly won't ask you to demonstrate your problems with the PIP activities.

OK thanks Gordon looks like i picked the right time to post as i have a GP's appt next week, so many thanks for the info
