This may be a couple of impossible queries to answer, but I will give it a go. My second 1043 form is due any day soon. My last was was renewed without a f2f. I read all the posts on here looking for some comfort to allay my fears about having to endure another assessment. It just seems to be about MR, tribunals and many other problems. I understand that people will post desperately needing help, but do you get many saying all is ok and the evidence provided was sufficient for the DWP to make a decision with referring the case on?
I'm nearing 60 now and have avoided adding to my medical conditions, by putting the usual ageing things like arthritis down, as we all get that and would probably end up getting referred as it is as "new condition". Is this wise?
I just wondered if you get reassuring feedback at all?

It is extraordinarily rare for the DWP to make a Decision based on the information it has on the claimant, it is more likely that the Assessment Provider for your postcode will do a Paper Based Review but even then no more than about 5% of claimants will qualify for a PBR.

The Decision to do a PBR is primarily based on the information available to the assessor and whether it is sufficient for them to make a recommendation to the DWP.

If you have a diagnosis of Arthritis and it affects your ability to complete the PIP activities then you should include this on the form, not everybody gets Arthritis as they age!

Thanks for your reply. From your information, is it correct that when I received a letter two years ago saying that my PIP was to remain the same, without a f2f, I was one of only 5% of claimants to get this or have I misunderstood. I thought the idea was to reduce f2f renewal assessments. Do 95% of people still have to go through further assessments every 2 years? Thanks

I don't have any statistics that are specific to reassessments but based on what I see in the forum the vast majority have a face to face assessment. We certainly have seen a lot of members who have reported no change on the AR1 still have one.

I am not aware of any difference in criteria for a PBR between a new claim and a reassessment, it is still down to the information that is available and how up to date it is.
