hi gordon, I'm going to an ESA assessment soon. My son is attending with me due to my mental illness but I would prefer once he accompanies me he doesn't come into the assessment. this is because of his own mental health due to his father committing suicide. I feel it is unhelpful for him to have to listen to negative conversations about my poor mental health over and over again. my question is does he need to be in the room with me?. thankyou and kind regards

It's entirely up to you whether your son is at the interview or not but be aware that your seeing the assessor alone will mean that they make assumptions about your problems with the Mixing with People and Communicating activities.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
