Hi,

I need to run something pass you for advice and help please.

We are considering 'downsizing' considerably.

Selling our house and moving to a chalet on a small residential site which is however not classified as 'full time' permanent occupancy, hence not applicable for a postal address.
You have to 'not be there full time', but once you put in holidays, respite care elsewhere for all in tense and purpose that will be our new full time home.
Agreed with site owner, others there the same.

I am in receipt of ESA SG CB/ / PIP Both Mob/Care Ind - looking at review in 2026 beyond !!!i

Now this will mean just a change of address for both ESA/PIP - which should not infer another review, famous last words !!!

However wondering if ESA/PIP would allow a postbox/mailbox number address for all mail ,etc along with the site address as place of residence, if you get my drift.

I obviously need to know the answer before we go ahead and do the move.

Financially and health wise mobility move to this place would be of great benefit to us, meaning husband could cut down on hours of work and look after me more.

Your help and advice would be most helpful

thank you
xx

I'm not aware of any problems with you doing this but I would contact the DWP in advance if the move in case there is additional paperwork that you need to complete. Don't forget to have your mail re-directed to catch anything sent during the transition.

thank u.
It may be a way of keeping costs down and not having to pay for carers as often, if husband can reduce his hours, as carers are so expensive and way uses more than the PIP/ESA income.

Hiya,

We are still going over this idea b4 we take the plunge.

If we do move it will be from W. Dorset to East Devon, we are unsure if this change of address cross borders will come under 'change of circumstance' which we presume will not necitate a further review, or as we are cross bordering into another Local Authority this will make them do a review or even start afresh.

Not sure if UC will be something that we need to worry about, however it should not really be as I am in SG Cont base and PIP both Enhanced.

Must admit not to knowing much in regards to the UC side of things and very concerned if we phone DWP to discuss all this it will flag up reviews and problems - we all know they love making life as difficult as possible for us !!!!!!

So all help will be gratefully received.

thankyou

Moving will not affect your benefits unless you need to make a new claim for one of the benefits that come under the UC umbrella, the obvious example being Housing Benefit, however, you ESA(CB) will not be affected by a UC claim.
