ESA to UC query was created by Jasmine3234
Hi I read your newsletter today about the ESA to UC migration. I am a bit confused as I thought UC was to bundle multiple benefits such as housing allowance, income support etc etc into one payment.

I receive ESA (support group with disability premium), PIP high rate care and mobility and Industrial Injuries benefits.

I receive no help for anything else, so would I still have to migrate from ESA to UC in my circumstances?

Thank you.

Income Related ESA, which you are receiving at least in part is on of the benefits that UC replaces.

I'm sorry Gordon but I don't understand. I am not on income related ESA, I live on my own and do not get any help with SMI now either.

If you are receiving the Disability Premiums with your ESA then you are receiving ESA(IR) at least in part as the Premiums are only paid with ESA(IR).

So this means that having gone through the Incapacity benefit to ESA migration, even though I'm not in receipt of multiple benefits, then I could be forced to go through this again?

I get 3 payments - ESA (including the disabilty premium) every 2 week, PIP every 4 weeks and Ind Inj once a month.

So what is the actual point?

I'm not sure I can answer this in any sensible way.
